The Yin lab is developing quantitative experimental measures and computational models of virus-host interactions, spanning from virus growth within single cells to the spatial spread of virus infections across populations of host cells. We aim for systems level insights that may be the basis for new anti-viral strategies. We are also advancing frontiers on the origins of life, seeking to elucidate conditions that enable store-bought chemicals to exhibit life-like behaviors (e.g., storing information about their environment, self-replicating, and adapting).
