The Ané research group works on statistical methods to answer questions in evolutionary biology. Molecular sequences data (like whole genomes) are used to infer evolutionary trees, which describe relationship between species. We study, develop and implement methods to answer questions about the molecular process of evolution, evolution of morphological traits, detection of natural selection, species boundaries, hybridization, etc.
